Bamboo Kitchen’s Migration to Protouch Advanced POS

Bamboo Kitchen Auckland Protouch Advanced Customer

In the last six months, Able 2 has been busy migrating customers from Protouch POS version 1 to the latest Protouch Advanced version 2 by TouchtecGL. This seamless upgrade path converts static data like products and pulls in sales history. However, the installation for Bamboo Kitchen has been eye-opening, leveraging the latest technology to do some of the heavy lifting. Using an LLM has significantly reduced the time required to deliver a fully integrated web shopping cart and in-venue POS system. Here’s how this particular installation went through the paces.

Case Study: Bamboo Kitchen in Auckland

Our team at Able 2 recently completed an installation of Protouch Advanced POS at Bamboo Kitchen. We took a unique approach to this implementation:

Phase 1: In-Store POS Installation

  • Data Collection: We took a photo of the menu board.
  • Menu Digitisation: We used an LLM (Large Language Model) to convert pictures of the menu board into a CSV file, and build out the necessary supporting fields. This process took just minutes.
  • Data Cleansing: Performed data cleansing and loaded modifiers into an XLS file within an hour.
  • Data Upload: Uploaded the cleansed data to the TouchtecG cloud and downloaded it to the store’s POS system.
  • Interface Customisation: Configured the POS buttons to optimise the page button layout for transaction throughput and adjusted button layouts and text to meet customer requirements.
  • Placed Equipment on Site: Used existing printers to minimise costs and streamline installation.
  • Printer Setup: Configured printers and print queues for Hot, Wok, and Packing stations, custom-formatted receipts and production dockets, sorted kitchen dockets by cooking time, and set up printer redirects to ensure seamless operation.
  • Training: Provided a 20-minute training session for the store staff, enabling them to go live immediately.

Phase 2: Integrated Web Shopping Cart

  • Web Integration: Activated the TouchtecG web shopping cart and selected the desired products to display online.
  • Design Matching: Used an LLM to match the web cart’s CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) colours with the existing website’s colour scheme and uploaded the updated CSS file.
  • Image and Payment Integration: Linked company images to the shopping cart and integrated Stripe as the payment gateway.
  • Order Processing: Tested the system by placing an order through the TouchtecGL online shopping cart, ensuring that orders print directly in the kitchen.

Key Benefits:

  • Faster order processing and kitchen delivery.
  • Increased efficiency and reduced operational costs.
  • Retained more margin for the venue using Touchtec GL’s comprehensive solution.
  • Seamlessly connected the shopping cart to the website, ensuring it matched the web design.

As a system integrator, I spent less time setting up this system and was amazed at how technology has helped deliver a first-class solution that makes our customers happier. Protouch Advanced has set new standards for Able 2, and I’m happy to share my findings and experiences.
